
The Finnish Social Democratic Party is one of the three largest parties in Finland, and the largest left of centre party. The SDP has 45 seats in the Finnish parliament, and is currently in opposition – having previously been in Government until 2007.
- The Party is chaired by Ms. Jutta Urpilainen who was elected at the Party Congress held in 2008.
- The President of Finland, Ms. Tarja Halonen was the SDP candidate in 2000, and in her successful re-election in 2006.
- The SDP also has 2 Members of the European Parliament.
